On Television — Hulu’s Reprisal
In August of 2019, we were contacted by a producer from “Reprisal,” a Hulu original series. Their story is a bit of a sister story to ours: an unstoppable female lead on a path of fury and vengeance, so we hit it off right away.
Before we knew it, we found ourselves in a studio in Wilmington, NC, where they had built a huge, custom-made set based around the dimensions of our crankie. Reprisal is described as “hyper-noir,” with a visually stunning, anachronistic aesthetic. There was no time to make custom puppetry for them, so they hired us to perform a couple scenes from Lupita’s Revenge in the show.
The end result can be seen in Episode 8, when two of the leading characters (Mena Massoud and Madison Davenport) are on a date and end up at a barn watching a puppet show…
